There Is A Way Out

“God will not give you more than you can handle.”

That is a lie.

First of all, I don’t think God wants to make our lives miserable and just keep dumping problem after problem onto us.  I think bad things happen; that’s pretty obvious.

The big misconception about this phrase, though, is that we must somehow work through our problems and solve them ourselves – without God.

What the quote should read is this:

“God will not allow more than He can handle.”

We all go through trials and hard times in our lives, but what some people do in the face of those problems is rely on God.  They know that no matter what is happening and what they are going through, God can handle it.

Paul says it best in 1 Corinthians 10:13:

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure.

Paul says God will provide a way out so that you can endure.  He doesn’t say that you have to fight through it alone.

He says God will provide a way out…

…a way out of financial ruin…
…a way out of addiction…
…a way out of an abusive relationship…
…a way out of depression…

…so that you can endure.

It’s not going to be easy, but keep in mind what Paul said to the Romans, “Death no longer has any power over Him.”

If Jesus Christ can conquer death itself, I’m pretty sure He can help you endure whatever it is you are battling.

He helps me every day.
